HISTORY & SIGNIFICANCE

Sree kunnath Bhavoor Karinkali kshethram is where the revered deity Sree Bhavoor Devi resides as the guardian of the land. Guided by the powerful Karinkali and Bhagavathi manifestations, the centuries old Kshethra is also blessed by the divine presence of the Yogeeshwara Maheshwara Maheshwari Saanidhyam and the Vaishnava Naga Sanidhyam.

Along with Sree Bhavoor Karinkali, it is also home to the deities (Theyyam) Ponmakan, Ponmakal, Thee Chamundi, Gulikan, Bapporan, Eravari, Kaikkolan, Nagarajan, Nagakani and more revered guardian spirits.

At the auspicious time of the Annual Tirumaholsavam, The holy lamp and holy water, worshipped over at the sacred Chalad Sree Dharma Shastha temple, is brought to Sree Kunnath Bhavoor Karinkali Kshethram in a procession accompanied by the Vaadhyamelam, marking the beginning of the Thirumaholsavam.
